The creation of Opportunity Zones by Congress has generated considerable interest and expectations in a divergent collection of local governments, developers, lenders, investors, speculators, and community improvement and economic development organizations. A panel of experts will explain what is an Opportunity Zone, what are the rules and restrictions regarding using the property, who can do what with the property and how are the public sector and private sector reacting to this opportunity.

A panel of public sector experts will detail the current status of affordable housing in Kansas City and will explore what the City of Kansas City and the Housing Authority of Kansas City are doing to address the shortage of affordable housing and what still needs to be done.
