Sex, religion and power collide in an all-female production of
Shakespeare’s most provocative and darkest comedies exploring
political corruption and hypocrisy. The Duke of Vienna puts himself
and others to the test when he mysteriously leaves the city under the
charge of the strict and severe Angelo. When Angelo meets a young
novice, Isabella, the sister of a man he has condemned, desire
overtakes his principles. A foul proposition to save a life is made as
virtue is held ransom in Vienna.
The production features Gallatin undergraduate and graduate students
along with recent alums: Kathryn Lockwood, Monica Cortez, CJ Leede,
Madeline Sayet, Beth Pollack, Sydney Angel (BA ’11), Sarah Dunn,
Christina Liang (BA ’11) and Rebecca Gray.
