Meaning-making in women’s tattooed bodies
“so, what does it mean?”
This talk introduces the audience to the common tropes we see in our society about women’s tattooed bodies, with a more specific focus for why women make meaning of their tattooed bodies.
The vast majority of research that is available on tattoos focuses on men, or at least, does not fully understand the specific gendered ideas that feed into our understanding of the tattooed feminine body – historical, social, and cultural.
In this talk, the audience will be invited to look more closely at how these ideas regulate the choices that women make in relation to their tattooed bodies.
Please note! If you are external to the University you will need to obtain a Day Pass from Senate Reception in order to access the Learning Hub. Please contact Jenny.Townend@northampton.ac.uk if you have any questions.
