Description

What is #MeToo?

#MeToo, was originally developed by Tarana Burke as a movement to help young women of colour who have survived sexual abuse, assault, and exploitation. Recently, #MeToo has spread like virtual wildfire capturing the magnitude of the females – and some men, affected by sexual violence.

So What Now?

We’re creating a social night to hold space for individuals who have been affected by sexual violence. Our hope is to create a sense of community support and solidarity. It will be an awesome night of poetry, open mic, arts and crafts, colouring, and coffee!

Just so you know..

You do not have to identify yourself as a survivor and you will not have to disclose your experience to anyone.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of your sexual orientation, sexual identify, gender, race, ethnicity, or religion.

This will be a safe place with no tolerance of challenging beliefs or victim blaming.

We need to be mindful of the unique experiences of each individual. We can strive for this by being kind, showing support, and being aware of how your actions or words could affect others.

There will be resource information available regarding services provided at the University of Windsor for survivors of sexual assault.
