The Regional Municipality of York (York Region) is initiating two (2) Municipal Class Environmental Assessment Studies (Class EA) to review the current and future transportation needs for McCowan Road and Kennedy Road. The study area is Kennedy Road between Steeles Avenue and Major Mackenzie Drive, in the City of Markham.

York Region has retained HDR Corporation to undertake these Class EAs. The study is being conducted in accordance with the planning and design process for Schedule ‘C’ projects as outlined in the Municipal Engineer Association’s Class EA document (October 2000, as amended in 2007, 2011 and 2015).

The Class EA Study will:

· Review existing conditions and future transportation needs along the corridor;

· Identify opportunities for improvement and offer possible solutions;

· Collect and assess input and feedback from residents and affected stakeholders within the study area.

As part of our enhanced public consultation process, we have asked key stakeholders to be part of the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) to assist the Study Team to provide feedback at key milestones.
