MCCL Summit December 13th "Replacing Grades With Effective Learner Feedback...
The Maine Cohort for Customized Learning is partnering with Thomas College's Center for Innovation in Education to provide four one-day summits in the 2016-2017 school year. Our summit format provides participants an opportunity to share and collaborate in an effort to problem solve and create new methods and action steps that help address our largest implementation challenges.
For our December 13th summit, we invite you to join us for a discussion about how and why school communities are replacing traditional grading practices with feedback that leads to a focus on learning and higher achievement. This session will engage teachers, administrators and instructional support staff in a conversation about the most current research on how to provide learners with effective feedback. This summit will offer a follow-up and extension to those who attended our first summit on "Replacing Grading" in March 2016 while also meeting the needs of those who will be joining us for the first time.
Participants of our March 2016 summit suggested that we follow-up with a focus on what effective feedback looks like. Participants are encouraged to bring examples/artifacts of how they provide feedback to their learners. Time will be provided for participants to provide each other with feedback and help for their methods of providing feedback.
School teams will review and/or create action plans for their work back home and meet and discuss with other districts to help problem solve their biggest challenges. Come with a team from your district/school and help us problem solve and identify strategies and methods that help support teachers as they continue to design the Ideal Learning Experience for each and every one of their learners.
Participants will share learnings, gain insights, network with others, and create action steps that will support efforts to transform their systems.
Daily Schedule: 8:30 - 3:00
6.5 Contact hours will be provided.
