2018 International Existing Buidling Code - Presented by William Clayton of Colorado Code Consulting

This seminar is designed for building department staff, contractors and design professionals interested in learning more about the 2018 International Existing Building Code. This full-day offering addresses the use of the IEBC with a focus on the fundamental requirements of the IEBC that are placed on existing structures when that structure undergoes repair, alteration, renovation, construction of an addition or has a change in its occupancy classification. The class discusses prescriptive requirements, work area requirements, and compliance alternatives method of evaluating work in an existing building. Topics include regulations for additions, alterations and repairs, changes of occupancy considerations, compliance alternatives, and general application of the IEBC.

The seminar will present an overview of the use of the IEBC for new users. For new and current users of the Code, it will present changes from the 2012/2015 to the 2018 IEBC. All attendees should gain a better understanding of the IEBC and its use.

About The Presenter: Mr. Clayton was a designer and a builder from 1976 to 1991. He has been involved in building and Code enforcement and administration since early 1991. Bill was a combination inspector and a plans examiner for 16 years when he was hired as the CBO for a major Colorado jurisdiction. After eight years in that position, he was recruited to work for Steve Thomas and Colorado Code Consulting in January of 2015.

Bill holds 18 certifications from ICBO and ICC including four FEMA certifications as well as a State of California Safety Assessment Inspector certification. He served for 12 years on the ICC IEBC Committee at the international level during the development of the 2006, 2009 and 2012 cycles, and three years on the IBC General Committee for the 2015 Code cycle. Bill remains active with the State of Colorado ICC Code Change Committee.

Currently, Bill is a plans examiner, an inspector, and a consultant for CCC as well as one of CCC's cadre of educational instructors.
