Event description

Description

Since January 2016, there have been four ways for Scouts to earn the BSA Snowsports merit badge:

  • Nordic/Cross-country Skiing
  • Alpine/Downhill Skiing
  • Snowboarding
  • Snowshoeing

#LoneScoutJason is choosing to Snowshoe to the Snowsports merit badge on Saturday March 7, 2020.

Scouts BSA from any BSA council, regardless of gender, age or rank, are welcome to join him at the San Bernardino National Forest for a 2.5 + mile snowshoe hike where we will also learn how plants and animals adapt in winter too!

NOTES - PLEASE READ CAREFULLY:

1) This is NOT a drop off. All Scouts BSA must be accompanied by an Adult BSA at the maximum ratio of 3-Scouts to 1-Adult from the same troop.

2) Scouts BSA and Adults BSA will wear waterproof shoes/boots and warm clothing layers.

3) There are NO REFUNDS unless canceled due to weather.

4) There is NO WAITLIST. We have a maximum capacity of 15-persons in any combination of Scouts BSA and Adults BSA on a first-RSVP-first-confirmed status.

5) Scouts BSA will be prepared by reading their Snowsports merit badge book from cover to cover by March 2, 2020 and take notes in a notebook of their choice or use the Snowsports merit badge workshset available at http://usscouts.org/mb/worksheets/Snow-Sports.pdf.

6) Scouts BSA will be meeting with the Snowsports Merit Badge Counselor AFTER the snowshoe hike through San Bernardino National Forest. Please bring notebook/worksheet and scoutmaster-signed blue card to the meeting.

7) Travel from wherever you are and Big Bear Lake is your responsibility.
