Mayor's Interfaith Prayer Breakfast 2017

“Building Community in a Divided World” is the theme for the 33rd Annual Mayor’s Interfaith Prayer Breakfast
and Faith Leadership Roundtable (see information below).

This year’s featured speaker is Preeta Bansal, of Cambridge, MA, an international advocate for religious freedom and interfaith cooperation, and a Harvard-educated attorney with Lincoln roots.
The event is co-hosted by Lincoln Mayor Chris Beutler and the Faith Coalition of Lancaster County. The program will feature sacred readings and prayers from the wide variety of religious communities that call Lincoln their home. along with music by the Great Plains Chamber Winds.
Preeta Bansal was raised in Lincoln, the daughter of parents who emigrated from India to the United States in 1968. She graduated as valedictorian of her class at Lincoln East High School. Bansal’s varied and distinguished legal career has placed her at the intersection of law, public policy, government, academia, and global business. Her credits include Solicitor General for the State of New York, general counsel and senior policy advisor in the Office of Management and Budget for President Obama, and Chair of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom.
Currently Bansal is President of the non-profit Social Emergence Corporation, a Lecturer at the MIT Media Lab, and serves as a Barack Obama appointee and chair for the President’s Advisory Committee on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships, focusing on poverty in America.
