Mayor's Innovation Roundtable: Makers - Public Viewing + Happy Hour
Monday, October 7, 2013 from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM (PDT)
San Francisco, CA
Is Maker the new manufacturing?
This Roundtable, moderated by Chris Anderson, brings together local San Francisco startups and individuals driving the Maker Movement. They will present and discuss their insights around making and monetizing.
How does greater access to design and fabrication tools catalyze new ideas, products, and businesses in San Francisco? What types of jobs are being created? Where will makers be in 3 years and what are their challenges to getting there?
Due to limited capacity and high demand for the Roundtable itself, we're hosting this special livestreamed public viewing at Impact Hub, immediately followed by a happy hour of drinks and discussion. You'll also have the chance to tweet in questions to any of the panelists!
Chris Anderson, CEO, 3DRobotics
Saul Griffith, Principal, OtherLab
Kate Sofis, Executive Director, SF Made
Andrew Rutter, Founder and CTO, Type A Machines
Robbie Schingler, Co-Founder, Planet Labs
Kate Drane, IndieGoGo
5:00 - 6:30 // Mayoral Innovation Roundtable
6:30 - 8:00 // Drinks + Open Discussion
The Mayor's Innovation Roundtable Series explores burgeoning startup areas to help city government keep pace with what’s next. This is an effort to celebrate our startup community in an environment of learning and discussion. Each Roundtable focuses on an emerging sector and explores how these sectors are creating economic impact and social value.
The City will convene thought leaders, startups, and local government in a forum that asks, what's the next big innovation for San Francisco?
The San Francisco Mayor's Office of Civic Innovation champions new ideas in government, making City Hall more accountable, accessible, and responsive. We inform the Mayor’s innovative vision, help City departments pilot new programs, and improve the interface between government and citizens.
