Event description
An afternoon in the Central Library with Susan Orlean, bestselling author of The Library Book, our 2019 Mayor's Book Club Selection.

About this Event

Presented by The Library Foundation and the Austin Public Library.

In The Library Book, Susan Orlean writes beautifully about the importance of libraries and their role in society. Spend an afternoon with the author in Austin's Central Library as part of this year's Mayor's Book Club!

Orlean will talk with author Sarah Bird about why she felt inspired to write about libraries, the stories she unearthed in the process, and how we can deepen our appreciation for the public institution that brings us education, insight, and inspiration.

This event is free and open to the public. We encourage everyone attending to reserve free tickets prior to the event. (Ticketholders will have first access to seating.) The Library Book will be available for sale at the event, and Orlean will sign books following the conversation.
