Mayor Muriel Bowser's 9th Annual FITDC Fresh Start 5K

Mayor Muriel Bowser is inviting residents to join her for the ninth annual FITDC Fresh Start 5K at Freedom Plaza at 11:00 a.m. on January 1, 2023.

Residents who do not register online can register in-person at Freedom Plaza on January 1 starting at 10:00 a.m. The 5K will begin promptly at 11:00 a.m. from the starting line located at 1455 Pennsylvania Avenue right by the plaza. Residents are encouraged to take public transportation to the 5K. Freedom Plaza is just a two block walk from the Metro Center metro stop (Red, Blue, Sliver, and Orange Lines) and a five block walk from the Gallery Place/Chinatown metro stop (Red, Yellow and Green Lines).

AETNA is the presenting partner for the Fresh Start 5K and the FITDC campaign at large, and their support is vital for the 40 plus FITDC activations that will take place in 2023.

As always, Mayor Bowser will be in attendance to welcome event-goers and participate in the 5K. Participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt, runner’s bib, and other giveaways courtesy of the 5K AETNA.

Residents who would like to pick up their swag before race day are invited to take advantage of a packet pickup on Friday, December 30 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the four DPR locations listed below. Shirts will be given out on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last.
