Event description

Description

Instructor: Jeff Halstead

THERE WILL BE 22 COMPUTERS AVAILABLE TO USE WITH SEATING FOR 40; IF POSSIBLE, PLEASE BRING A LAPTOP WITH MAYA TO ASSURE PARTICIPATION. MAYA IS AVAILABLE FROM students.autodesk.com

This workshop will begin with the object created in Maya 1. Students will be introduced to physics related deformation techniques that are unique to Maya such as warping, shrink wrapping and particle simulation. The workshop will explore animation based modeling with a focus on iterative creation through the use of blend shapes. Keyframing sequences of an object’s state will identify how to use the time slider as a means to generate formal propositions. The second part of the workshop will focus on rendering techniques and production using both Mental Ray and Arnold rendering engines. This will include instruction on setting up a render scene, using HDRI images, and texture and displacement mapping through “Hypershade”, Maya’s native material editor. The workshop will conclude with an overview on mesh retopology and mesh conversion for exporting objects to Rhino and Illustrator.
