Event Details

May - St. Louis Zoo/City Museum

There is a $10 activity fee that covers entrance to the City Museum and lunch on Saturday.  The entrance to the St. Louis Zoo is free.  There is no bus fee on this campout. We will be tent camping at the Beaumont Scout Reservation in High Ridge, MO.  Our plan is to visit the St. Louis Zoo in the morning and the City Museum in the afternoon with lunch served in between activities.  Due to the travel distance, we will stop for lunch on Sunday on our way back from St. Louis so each Scout will need money for lunch (and possibly for souvenirs from the Zoo and/or City Museum).

St. Louis Zoo - A get-away destination that brings together more than 14,840* wild animals and 3,000,000 visitors each year.  Voted America's top free attraction, the St. Louis Zoo is located on 90 acres in beautiful Forest Park, and home to more than 603* species of animals, many of them rare and endangered. It is one of the few free zoos in the nation.

City Museum - Housed in the 600,000 square-foot former International Shoe Company, the museum is an eclectic mixture of children’s playground, funhouse, surrealistic pavilion, and architectural marvel made out of unique, found objects. The brainchild of internationally acclaimed artist Bob Cassilly, a classically trained sculptor and serial entrepreneur, the museum opened for visitors in 1997 to the riotous approval of young and old alike. Cassilly and his longtime crew of 20 artisans have constructed the museum from the very stuff of the city; and, as a result, it has urban roots deeper than any other institutions’. Reaching no farther than municipal borders for its reclaimed building materials, City Museum boasts features such as old chimneys, salvaged bridges, construction cranes, miles of tile, and even two abandoned planes!

Guests are welcome but a Troop 42 permission form signed by their parent is required for each guest.  Download this form from the troop website under the "Documents" tab.

The bus hold 40 plus the driver. Scouts and registered leaders have priority on the bus. But usually find a way to get everyone there that wants to attend.

Don't miss this chance to get away for an exciting weekend in May.
