2018 IEBC Accessibility for Existing Buildings
ICC .3 CEU & AIA-HSW 3 hrs

This seminar will introduce critical concepts of the 2018 International Existing Building Code® (IEBC®) as it pertains to accessibility. Accessibility provisions apply across all compliance options in the IEBC. This class will focus on issues of how repairs, alterations, additions and changes of use affect the application of the access provisions. Some of the primary topics include:
 Understanding the limits where the access provisions apply,
 How a primary function area can affect scoping requirement,
 How to count dwelling units to determine requirements,
 How the IEBC exceeds Fair Housing of altered elements,
 Altering restrooms or using a family/assisted-use restroom.

2018 IBC Accessibility & Usability for Commercial and Residential Buildings
ICC .6 CEU & AIA-HSW 6 hrs

This seminar focuses on the minimum requirements for new or existing construction of accessible commercial buildings and residential facilities for compliance with the International Building Code® (IBC®) and ICC A117.1 Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities. It addresses the design, plan review and inspection of residential building and facilities to ensure that people with physical impairments, visual impairments and hearing impairments can use the facilities.

Instructor: Patrick Parsley
Mr. Parsley has been an ICC instructor for over five years. He has taught contractors and building inspectors classes pertaining to IRC and IBC provisions. He has also presented classes to the Hawkeye Fire Chapter in Iowa.
Mr. Parsley has been a Certified Building Official since 1998 and has served in that capacity for over 25 years. Patrick served as the Accessibility Officer for the City of Fairmont MN. He currently serves as the Community Development Director for the City of Hiawatha Iowa.
