Embodying Joy, Healing and Wholeness in Critical Times: An Online Retreat for Black Womxn of African Descent

Two experiential sessions for Self Identified Black Womxn of African Descent

With: Arisika Razak and Itzel (Kamala) Hayward

East Bay Meditation Center

Saturday, May 30th 2020

Session One: 10:00AM - 12:00PM

Session Two: 1:00PM - 3:00PM

Join in community with Womxn of Black African descent, including womxn of multiple heritages. Each session will include guided meditations, breakout groups, and other practices and activities related to the retrieval of ancestral wisdom and the deepening of self-love. Come to one session or both. Registered participants will receive a link to join via Zoom the evening before the event.




EBMC TEACHERS ARE NOT PAID BY THE CENTER. You are invited to offer a voluntary financial gift to them at the class. The East Bay Meditation Center operates using a generosity-based, gift economics model. This means we charge no set registration fees to attend our events and instead rely on the generous giving of our community. All classes at the Center do come with a financial cost. Class participants are offered an opportunity to make a voluntary gift to EBMC during the registration process or at an event itself. Please note that no one will be turned away for lack of funds.





Teacher Bios:

Arisika Razak, Core Teacher

Arisika Razak, MPH, is the former Chair of the Women’s Spirituality Program at the California Institute of Integral Studies. Previously a nurse-midwife, her teachings incorporate diverse spiritual traditions, women's health and healing, multicultural feminisms, queer theory, and diversity theory. Arisika has led national and international healing workshops and ritual celebrations for women for over three decades, as well as embodied spiritual workshops for people of all genders. She has co-facilitated workshops with Marlene Jones at Spirit Rock Meditation Center and regularly leads workshops at EBMC.


Itzel (Kamala) Hayward, Visiting Teacher

Itzel Hayward (aka Rev. Kamala) has helped guide people to experience the Dharma through all forms and stages of relationships for nearly 10 years. She is particularly passionate about coaching individuals to remember their Divine nature and open courageously and mindfully to Love. She completed the first Commit2Dharma program offered at EBMC and is trained as an Integral Yoga senior teacher and minister. She has been sharing yoga, meditation, and mindful communication since 2010.
