About the Speaker

Frank NothaftDr. Frank Nothaft is senior vice president and chief economist for CoreLogic, America’s largest provider of advanced property and ownership information, analytics and data-enabled services. He leads the economics team responsible for analysis, commentary and forecasting trends in global real estate, insurance and mortgage markets. Before joining CoreLogic Frank served in a variety of leadership positions with increasing responsibility at Freddie Mac. Most recently, he was vice president and chief economist responsible for forecasts, research and analysis of the macro economy, housing and mortgage markets. Prior to Freddie Mac, Frank was an economist with the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, where he served in the mortgage and consumer finance section and as assistant to Governor Henry C. Wallich. Frank frequently appears on local and national radio and television programs and has been widely quoted in The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and many industry trade publications such as National Mortgage News and HousingWire. He has been a regular guest on cable news channels such as CNBC, Bloomberg and Fox Business News. Frank has served as president of the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association, Board member of the National Association for Business Economics (and holds the Certified Business Economist designation), Board member of the Financial Management Association, Advisory Board member of the Real Estate Research Institute, and as Editorial Board member of the Journal of Real Estate Finance and Economics. Frank graduated from New York University with a bachelor of arts in mathematics and computer science and holds a Ph.D. in economics from Columbia University.


About The Houston Economics Club

The Houston Economics Club meets monthly, August – June, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Dallas Fed’s Houston branch, 1801 Allen Park­way. (For a map, click here.) Parking is free. 

Meeting fees, which include a box lunch, are $20 for members, $30 for non-members and $10 for students.
 If you plan to attend the May meeting, you must register by noon on May 21, so your name can be placed on the attend­ance list for the Fed’s security officers and we know how many lunches to order. Space for this meeting is limited, so please reply as soon as possible to ensure that you have a reservation. Anyone who has not pre-registered and pre-paid will not be admitted to the event. If you have dietary restrictions, please e-mail them to after you register online.

You need not be a member of The Houston Economics Club to attend. Meetings are open to all who use economics in their work, study, teaching or have an interest in trends driving our economy. However, members do pay reduced meeting fees, receive e-mail meeting notices before nonmembers ensuring that they have a better chance of registering before an event is sold out, and have exclusive access to members-only social and networking events.

The Houston Economics Club (THEC)

The Houston Economics Club (THEC) is an association of economists, analysts, researchers and academics who meet regularly to network, discuss recent business news and listen to world-class experts share their insights on current economic events.

THEC was chartered November 13, 1967, as the National Association of Business Economists—Houston Chapter. The organization changed its name to The Houston Economics Club on November 1, 2006, to reflect the organization’s new mission—serving not just economists but all individuals who seek a better understanding of economic trends in order to make better decisions.

Meetings are held monthly, August through June, from 12-1:30 p.m., at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, Houston Branch at 1801 Allen Parkway. To learn more about the next meeting, click here.

For security purposes, you must register at least 24 hours in advance to attend each meeting and bring a photo I.D. to enter the Federal Reserve Bank building.
