CYWOC provides education through online classes hosted by caring and talented instructors who believe in the mission of CYWOC. They teach JavaScript, C#, and Unity courses, languages and technologies that ensure their graduates gain modern and relevant skills widely sought out by employers.
CYWOC aims to bring systemic change by creating a highly-skilled, competitive talent pipeline. They promote portfolio and career development including paid internships and job opportunities with local development firms in Portland, Me. In addition to learning the fundamentals, students' work is showcased in community events, and their partners are offering staff augmentation opportunities.
CYWOC engages the community through Virtual Reality (VR) exhibits. The exhibits showcase their students' technical talents, and art or music from underrepresented artists. These ground-breaking events are often the first time many members of the community have experienced VR and serve as the main tool to inspire and recruit new students to join CYWOC, and gain friends and allies to support CYWOC's mission.
