Description

Maximizing Use of Qualified Opportunity Zones: Benefits, Requirements, Limitations Explained

Gail R. Runnels, attorney and CPA with Holliman, Langholz & Runnels, P.C. and local expert on opportunity zones, will walk you through the benefits, requirements, and limitations of Qualified Opportunity Zones, specifically those designated in Tulsa and surrounding areas of Oklahoma. He will provide you with the knowledge and resources you need to assist your clients, including investors.

This new course is geared toward commercial real estate practitioners, but will benefit developers, investors, lenders, attorneys, CPAsanyone interested in learning about Qualified Opportunity Zones.

The Qualified Opportunity Zones program encourages development and job-creation in the Zones, which may result in improvements to existing structures, new businesses, and new developments.

Congress created the federal Qualified Opportunity Zone (“QOZ”) program in the 2017 “Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” to encourage economic growth in underserved communities through tax benefits to investors. U.S. states and territories, including Washington D.C., nominated areas (by census tract) to be designated as QOZs in 2018, and the IRS and Treasury finalized the designations this year. This program presents opportunities for real estate investment and development in distressed communities.
