Maximizing Esthetics with Resin Composites: A Hands-On Course: Friday, September 7, 2018 for Dentists and Auxilliaries

Course Summary:

Modern resin-based composites offer a functional and esthetic replacement for natural tooth structure. Resin-based composite restorations have many advantages, particularly allowing ultra-conservative preparation design, and the ability to mimic natural tooth esthetics. This combination lecture and hands-on presentation will provide an overview of current materials and techniques that give the most esthetically and functionally pleasing anterior and posterior composite restorations. Each participant will have the opportunity to prepare posterior typodont teeth, place and manipulate resin composite materials with special emphasis on the correct application of bonding agents and different techniques to created strong and predictable composite restorations. 

 Dr. TaleghaniDr. Mohsen Taleghani Is a Professor and Head of the Department of General     Dentistry at the  College of Dentistry. He maintains a part-time private dental practice in Dallas, Texas, with special emphasis on esthetics. Dr. Taleghani has presented lecture and hands-on courses on esthetics, laminates, and composite resins at Baylor and other educational institutions throughout this country and in international venues. In addition to lecturing, his dental research has led to numerous articles and abstracts in various publications.

Credit:  7 hours lecture/participation.  This course is intended for dentists and specialist who are interested in the latest tehcniques and materials for composite restorations.  In addition dental assistants and dental hygienist may be interested in attending the course.  The teaching methods involve lecture, case scenarios, interactive questions with answers, and laboratory hands-on opportunity to work with materials and learn the composition techniques.

Course Topics and Objectives:

  • Resin composite materials including new nano-filled and microhybrids
  • Layering of resin composite
  • Restoration of fractured teeth
  • Proper application of bonding agents
  • Techniques for predictable posterior restorations
  • Tooth preparation
  • Techniques to create proximal contacts in posterior teeth
  • Different matrix systems for posterior restorations
  • The use of glass ionomer in combination with composite in posterior restorations
  • Correct application of light curing
  • Hands-on exercise for Class II restorations
  • Finishing and polishing for ultimate esthetics

A $50 fee will be assessed for any course  cancellation.  All payments by check or cash are deposited into the Texas A&M account  and CANNOT be refunded.  “No Shows” for a course  forfeit all tuition. Confirm notification of cancellation by e-mail.The CE Office cannot be held responsible for a  non-refundable airline ticket.
