July 18, 2018, Maui College Teacher Professional Development Workshop
The Hawai‘i Council for the Humanities and the Chaminade History Center are offering a full-day teacher workshop on Hawai‘i Island featuring renown classroom teacher and author Bruce Lesh.
Teaching Historical Thinking:
‘Why Won’t You Just Tell Us the Answer?’

Teachers will engage in hands-on activities focused on connecting historical thinking skills and the use of historical investigations to teach history.
The goals of this professional development workshop include:
  • Increasing understanding of the research on historical thinking and historical literacy.
  • Providing teachers with a better understanding of the importance of integrating thinking skills, primary and secondary documents into their instructional practices.
  • Providing teachers with research-based best practices to engage all learners in the Social Studies classroom.

Participants will receive:

  • A copy of Bruce Lesh's best selling book, "Why Won't You Just Tell Us the Answer?"
  • A Hawai`i History Day Informational Packet.
  • Certificate of Attendance upon conclusion of the workshop.
  • Lunch will be provided.
