About this Event

MATT KABUS

"If you have ever found yourself deeply lost in the lyrics of a song, waiting to see how a story unfolds, while an enigmatic singer/songwriter bares his soul, you might find that you’re at a live performance by Atlanta’s own Matt Kabus."

-Atlanta's Finest Magazine

In a world where simple lyrics and tunes abound, it is rare to find musical prose that captivates and transports you like Kabus’ does. His passionate writing and powerful music resonates to the very core of each of his listeners. Kabus was born with the rhythm inside. His art surfaces through original songs that bookmark his life’s experiences. Kabus writes, sings and plays with emotion that runs deep and finds it's way to the heart of audiences he entertains.

Upon entering college at the University of Alabama, he began concentrating solely on writing and performing his own music. Kabus’ original song “Picture Frame” was his first song to get radio play.

In 2009, the University of Georgia Business of Music Program headed under Bruce Burch recruited Kabus. Since then, he has become a staple of the greater Atlanta music scene while building a following in Athens. Along with the student population, Kabus has built a lasting loyalty among crowds of all ages. With every performance, he captures the crowd with his charisma and honesty.

Kabus continues to make an effort to donate his musical performances and writing abilities to aid such causes as the ALSA, Relay for Life, Captain Planet Foundation, Rent the Runway, The Miracle Foundation, and many more charitable causes.

From his first solo open mics in 2008 to now, Kabus has performed various nationwide venues and amphitheatres opening for a diverse list of national touring bands.

His music has been influenced greatly by John Mayer, Dave Matthews, Jack Johnson, Shawn Mullins, Ryan Adams, Ryan Tedder, Bob Dylan, and Goo Goo Dolls. Kabus also acknowledges his vocal coach, Jan Smith, as a strong influence on his vocal development.

He has opened for:

Sister Hazel, Ed Roland (Collective Soul), Alison Krauss, Zac Brown, Bay City Rollers, Matthew Mayfield, Mike Garson (David Bowie), and more.

NICK ARKIN

Nick Arkin's love of music started at an early age. He learned to play the alto saxophone, hoping to become a jazz musician. As time went by, he grew enthralled with the angst-ridden genres of grunge and heavy metal, but also gathered inspiration from musicians like Billy Joel, David Bowie, and Elvis. Nick has performed with numerous bands throughout the years before deciding to go solo. He continues a journey that has yet to completely reveal itself...
