Event Information
Event description
Description
Would you like to begin a meditation practice but don't know where to start? Have you hit a plateau in your established practice? Improve your meditation by working with the fundamental components of consciousness – attention and awareness. The distinction between “attention” and “awareness” is rarely discussed but a correct understanding can prove invaluable for your practice.
In this day-long workshop, you will learn:
- How to distinguish the difference between attention and awareness
- Develop a clear understanding of the Meditation Stages
- Learn how to cultivate proper motivation and a joyful attitude to establish and ensure your meditation practice flourishes
- Simple tips and antidotes to deepen your practice, even when you feel like your meditation practice has hit a plateau.
Whether you are new to meditation or are a seasoned practitioner, this workshop will give a clear roadmap that will allow you to achieve new breakthroughs on your meditative path of awakening.
The Mind Illuminated tradition combines Buddhist wisdom and modern brain science for greater mindfulness. It was developed by Upasaka Culadasa (John Yates, PhD.), a meditation master with over four decades of experience in the Tibetan and Theravadin Buddhist traditions. He also taught physiology and neuroscience for many years.
In addition to the workshop you are welcome to sit daily with meditators to support your practice. Sits will be from 7-8am daily beginning December 3rd. On Wednesday evenings we will gather from 7:30 -9pm to talk about our practice.
You may attend just the Workshop or just join us for the daily sits in December or you are invited to attend both.
$50
No one will be turned away for lack of funds.
