Description

“Whether you realize it or not, from the minute you take an investors money your job is to create an exit. It can be an IPO or an acquisition, but there’s got to be an exit” Mark Cuban

This class is a must for any founder/CEO and will save you months, if not years of costly trial, error and opportunity cost.

Learn everything you need to know to build and execute a masterful exit strategy for your company. Class will be broken into two halves. The first half of the class will focus on understanding the key drivers of acquisitions in the tech sector and how to align yourself with those macro factors. The second half of the class will focus on the practical steps of identifying, understanding and winning over the key stakeholders necessary to make something big happen.

Who should attend? CEOs and Founders of venture/angel backed start-ups.

People start companies for all sorts of reasons, but in the end your business is primarily about one thing: making money for your shareholders. You’ve spent countless hours working on your product, sweating over your marketing plan, pitching to investors, cultivating a positive company culture, hiring sales people and other vital operational aspects of your business, but how much time have you spent on planning on the single most important thing in the life of you company, the liquidity event (exit)?

Topics covered include:

  • The difference between strategic value and financial value and how the 10x rule applies ($10 of strategic value is worth $1 of financial value)

  • Learn the vital difference between product positioning and company positioning and how to align yourself for maximum strategic value.

  • Identify who the strategic players are in your space and how to align your interests with theirs

  • Demystify the distinction between “corporate” motivations and the motivations of the people behind any deal

  • Learn the 3 key stakeholders involved in any deal and how to influence them

  • Practical, battle tested methods for getting on the radar screen of the people that matter

  • How to drive valuation and stop wasting your time on things that don’t.

  • How to understand the how an acquisition may affect you, your investors and employees differently and how these differences will drive behavior for these groups of people

  • What bankers, lawyers, accountants and others can do for you (or can’t).
