What's up with UPPA?

Moderator:  Rob Kitto Public Adjuster/K2 Consulting, Greg Cassel 2nd Opinion Public Adjusters, Brad Jones/Rooftime General Contractors.  This panel discusses the Unlicensed Practice of Public Adjusting (“UPPA”) which includes negotiating, interpreting policy language, or acting on the behalf of an insured and is considered consumer fraud.  Unfortunately, many contractors are simply unaware of what UPPA is.  Find out when or if you should consider referring your client to a public adjuster and gain a deeper understanding of the roles and boundaries when  handling claims as a team.  We will also discuss if insurers have a duty to report UPPA, what it could mean to you and your business as well as how to avoid UPPA.  Public adjusters are heavily regulated licensed insurance professionals that represent consumers in negotiations of first-party property damage claims with insurance carriers.  Both insurers and departments of insurance have UPPA high on their radars. This valuable discussion will give you practical approach to avoiding pitfalls of UPPA and streamling the claims handling process.
