Event description
Briefing: California’s Master Plan for Aging — Understanding Voters’ Views and Policy Implications

About this Event

Join We Stand With Seniors for a lunch briefing on Thursday, August 1, 2019, focused on California’s Master Plan for Aging: Understanding Voters’ Views and Policy Implications. Findings will be shared from a new statewide voter survey that identifies voters’ priorities and perspectives on the state’s accountability for plan implementation and related investments. A panel discussion will follow, exploring the polling and related policy implications.

The briefing will be recorded and posted to the We Stand With Seniors website following the event.

On June 10, 2019, California Governor Newsom issued Executive Order N-14-19, calling for a Master Plan for Aging (Master Plan) to serve as a blueprint for state and local government, the private sector, and philanthropy to implement strategies and partnerships to prepare the state for the coming demographic changes. Policymakers have long expressed a desire to see a Master Plan address what matters to older adults, people with disabilities, and their families to ensure that all Californians can age with dignity and independence.

About We Stand With Seniors:

West Health and The SCAN Foundation’s We Stand With Seniors nonpartisan, public awareness and education campaign focuses on the specific challenges older adults and their families face in accessing high-quality, affordable healthcare, dental care and supportive services, and the cost to the state if these challenges are not addressed. The campaign educates and drives support for a Master Plan for Aging, which includes developing a comprehensive strategy for addressing the challenges and meeting California’s population needs with specific accountabilities and timeframes for achieving improved outcomes.
