The next round of competition in Massmouth's 2016-2017 story slam season is here! The "audience choice" winners of Massmouth's story slams from the past year will share their winning true-life stories for the chance to advance to this spring's storytelling finals: the Big Mouth Off! Don't miss your chance to see some of the best emerging and featured storytellers in Greater Boston. Join us in Trident's cafe for an evening of engaging entertainment, and dinner and drinks if you choose.
What is a Story Slam?
A story slam is a contest of stories by known and undiscovered talent. Story slammers sign up on the night to tell a 5-minute short story on the evening's theme (see full season listing below). Ten names are drawn at random from a box. A team of 5 volunteer judges - interested amateurs, storytellers, theater people and members of the audience who love stories - evaluate how well each story is told, how well it is constructed, how well the story explores, connects and/or reveals some truth about the theme, and how well it honors the time limit. The top-scorer is awarded a prize and this winner, the runner-up and the audience-selected favorite earn an opportunity to compete to perform at the Big Mouth Off at the end of the slam season in the spring.
Doors open at 6pm, show starts at 7pm.
Tickets are $10 online or at the door. This event often sells out.
