Event description
Massachusetts Walking Tour Troubadours Return to CT River Area for 10th Anniversary Concert

About this Event

For one very special night only - folk duo Mark Mandeville & Raianne Richards reunite with old Time/bluegrass duo Hoot and Holler for a special 10 Year Anniversary Concert for the Massachusetts Walking Tour. In 2018 the troupe paddled, hiked, and performed in 11 towns along the Connecticut River Paddlers Trail including Holyoke (home of Gateway City Arts). It is rare that these two nationally touring acts can reunite in advance of the annual June tour but they are coming back to the Pioneer Valley for just one night on Saturday February 23 at Gateway City Arts. The evening will feature favorite songs from years past performed by the WT ensemble as well as original music by each respective duo.

Each summer since 2010 Mark Mandeville and Raianne Richards have organized the “Massachusetts Walking Tour” where they hike the roads and trails of the Commonwealth, more than 100 miles in less than two weeks carrying instruments and camping gear. Each evening they stop over in yet another Massachusetts town, putting on a concert there, along with local performers and fellow artists who accompany them on their journey. These annual two-week treks also raise awareness of the trails and greenways across Massachusetts, using music to make important connections. In 2017, Mandeville and Richards received congressional recognition by Senator Edward Markey for their statewide efforts.
