Thank you for registering for the Attorney General’s Office Community Engagement Webinar. Please follow these instructions to sign-in for the webinar. You may need to download certain software for the program to function properly, thus we recommend that you log in ten to fifteen minutes early so that you do not miss any of the program. Establishing Audio You can access the audio portion of our program by telephone. a. By Telephone – Dial +1-860-970-0010 and enter the following code: 739-662-108. Please be sure to mute the audio on your telephone, if possible, as we will only be accepting questions via online chat. 3. Opening the Chat Box Once you have set up your audio, you will want to find the “chat” function so that you may submit and view responses to questions during the presentation. a. Click on the circle with the chat balloon on it (this is the second circle from the left). This will open a chat box at the top of your screen. b. You may use the mouse to drag the chat window to another part of the screen so that it does not block the presentation slides. c. Please make sure to identify yourself by changing your log-in name (usually Participant #) to your full name. d. Please submit all questions in writing by typing them into the chat window and hitting “return.” To change your displayed name By default, your name will be displayed as “Viewer #” with a number assigned to you based on the order in which you signed in to the presentation. If you would like to change how your name is displayed, click the icon then select “Participant List.” Note that your icon might have a number other than “2” in the middle of it. This will bring up the following screen: Your name will be at the top of the list. In this case, the name is listed as “Viewer #1.” To change your name, click on your name at the top of the list (in this example, it is “Viewer 2” but that might be different on your computer) and select “Edit My Profile.” Update your name information then close the window. If you experience any difficulty with any of these steps, please call us at (617) 963-2541 or email: AGOCommunityEngagement@Mass.Gov during the meeting and we will try to assist you.

Description

As a part of the Attorney General’s Office continued effort to inform the public about its resources, the Community Engagement Division begun train-the-trainer model presentations. CED will provide a webinar training every month, and can provide additional webinars for service organizations and agencies upon request.


The webinar training topics are as follows (with more options to come):

  1. Worker’s Rights;
  2. Consumer Protection Tips;
  3. Unauthorized Practice of Immigration Law
  4. Identity Theft and Scam Prevention; and
  5. Landlord-Tenant Rights.

This webinar will be held on Tuesday, May 7th, 2019, regarding Identity Theft and Scams Prevention in Massachusetts.

Identity Theft and Scams Prevention Webinar Presentation

Identity theft is a serious crime with serious costs for victims. ID theft occurs when someone obtains your personal information - such as your Social Security Number, credit card or account numbers, passwords, among others - to defraud or commit crimes. Victims of identity theft may lose significant money and time, and may find their reputation and credit rating has been damaged, affecting the ability to obtain loans for education or housing, approval for rental agreements, and approval for credit cards or large purchases requiring credit.

This presentation will educate consumers on how to protect personal information to prevent identity theft and about the steps to take when identity theft is discovered.
