Event description
Join us for our premier networking event bringing together decision-makers, business owners, and growing entrepreneurs to build connections

About this Event

This premier networking event will allow decision-makers, established business owners, and growing entrepreneurs to connect over drinks and entertainment and deepen business relationships. The featured guest speaker will be Ryann Richardson, the 2019 Miss Black America, entrepreneur, and VP of North American Marketing for the venture-backed private jet marketplace app, Victor.

About MBE

Earlier this year, BECMA worked to make public the fact that less than 1% of City of Boston contracts went to minority vendors. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, along with the remaining 350 cities and towns therein, also lag behind in doing business with our community.

BECMA and its community partners have organized this two-day event in an effort to address this woeful underinvestment by highlighting Black-owned businesses of the entire African diaspora across industries, connecting them with procurement opportunities in the private and public sectors, sharing resources that help grow their capacity, and creating an ecosystem of Black entrepreneurship. It will also give business owners the opportunity to showcase their goods or services to institutional decision-makers, procurement officers, and potential new local customers.

This two-day event will feature plenary sessions and workshops on crucial topics and will give business owners the opportunity to showcase their goods or services to institutional decision-makers, procurement officers, and potential new customers. Participants will also have the chance to engage and learn from one another.

The MBE Theme

This year, Black communities around the nation are commemorating the 400th anniversary since the first African stepped onto the shores of the United States as an enslaved person. "Independence Weekend" is a nod to this history and meant to serve as recognition of the fact Massachusetts stakeholders and institutional decision makers must be intentional about working with Black communities and businesses to gain true independence and build up the economic health of all residents and contributors.
