Event description

Description

Greetings Oakland. We are throwing a Masquerade Ball Fundraiser to Ghana! This Ball is also a series of Masquerades to come.

COME AS YOU ARE OR WEAR A COSTUME,
WEAR A MASK TO KEEP THE VIBE RIGHT (We've got you covered)

With your help, we will be able to send 35 Black Cooperative Business Owners to Ghana during the Year of Return proclaimed by Ghana's President for 2019. We are currently in the midst of the United Nations proclaimed "International Decade of People of African Descent" which stretches from 2015-2024.

About Our Trip

Our Cultural Exchange invites African Diasporans, and U.S. cooperative members and supporters to begin dialogue for a co-created, equitable, cooperative development policy for Ghanaian economic development and beyond. The 35 member American cohort is a group of cooperative-minded people from the SF Bay Area, Midwest, South, and East Coast seeking to learn how Ghanaians in particular, and Africans in general, structure their collective efforts. We are going to offer our experience and expertise to local projects, and to engage in critical conversation regarding international cooperative exchange of resources.

Attendees will form relationships that bloom into cultural content, import/export agreements, thought partnership, and real estate development. In partnership with the Ghana Cooperatives Council, we will host an un-conference in Accra at the National History Museum where attendees will share knowledge and experience while co-creating equitable development policy.
