Event description

Description

The National Emergency Management Association (NEMA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) are involved in a cooperative effort to develop a tabletop exercise (TTX) toolkit for state emergency management agencies to use to test and evaluate their capabilities to respond to and recover from a long-term power outage. As part of this effort, NEMA has invited Maryland to participate in a pilot program utilizing the newly developed toolkits in a Maryland-specific exercise.

Please mark your calendars for August 9, 2017, and plan to join us as we explore Maryland’s path to energy resilience. More information will be provided in the coming weeks.

Exercise Topics:

  • Resources and capabilities related to restoration following a widespread power outage.
  • Public and Private sector integration.
  • Energy Sector and critical infrastructure interdependencies.
  • Human impacts of a long-term power outage.
  • Challenges of a widespread power outage on fuel distribution.
  • Decision-making for power restoration and fuel allocation priorities.
