Spartan Tactical, LLC, is offering this course of instruction to meet the State of Maryland mandate in regards to the Maryland Firearm’s Safety Act 2013. Unless otherwise exempted, a person may not purchase, rent, or receive a handgun unless they possess a valid Handgun Qualification License, or Handgun Wear/Carry Permit, issued by the Maryland Department of State Police. Prior to submitting an application for an CCW., applicants must complete a Firearms Safety Training Course by an approved and registered Qualified Handgun Instructor. Spartan Tactical Firearms Instructors meet this requirement and are authorized to teach this course.
The topics covered are:
Familiarization with the type of weapon to be possessed, including the proper operation and safe handling of a handgun, cleaning and maintenance of a firearm, the loading and unloading of a firearm, and the differences between revolvers and semi-automatic handguns.
An overview of the State’s firearm laws, to include what constitutes a regulated firearm, how to properly purchase or transfer a firearm, where they are permitted to be carried or transported, when it is necessary to possess a Handgun Safety Permit, and who is prohibited from possessing firearms.
Qualification on the approved “live” Course of Fire at an authorized firing range. Spartan Tactical Uses UTM Ammo, all students will be issued a firearm. ONLY UTM will be used in this course which is approved by the Maryland State police Licensing division for all Maryland handgun courses.
An overview of handgun and firearm safety in the home, to include regulations regarding access to minors, locking and storing of a firearm, and the proper use of safety devices, to include lock boxes and safes.
The minimum time allotted for course participants will be 16 hours. The attendance at this course does not guarantee qualification. Participants may be dismissed from the training program if the instructor recognizes a firearms “safety” issue, negligent handling of firearms, or the participant does not meet a minimum acceptable performance standard (MAPS).
At the conclusion of this course of instruction, the participant will be expected to demonstrate proper firearms safety as it relates to handguns, identify the proper handling and functioning of a handgun, and the laws pertaining to civilian possession of firearms.
Instructors will be provided through the Spartan Tactical firearms training staff. Participants will receive a training completion certificate for this block of instruction.
