Event description

We are so thrilled to welcome back Martyn Joseph!

Please join us for an evening of music with Martyn in support of The IAM Strong Foundation! During the first half of 2017, Martyn is touring throughout Europe, Canada and the United States, making a very purposeful stop in Westwood for this special event.

Throughout the first 6 months of 2017, Martyn and his organization Let Yourself Trust will be raising awareness and funds at every show for The IAM Strong Foundation, which has its home base right here in Westwood. How amazing is that?! Please read below about how Let Yourself Trust support has impacted grassroots oraganizations around the globe. Then come join us for a night of phenomenal music!

Given we expect a large group for this event, we are holding it at an offsite location in Westwood. Due to venue policies, this will not be a BYOB event, but we will have a variety of beers and wines available for purchase.

If you've never seen Martyn, you can expect to hear his own music in addition to some highly acclaimed Bruce Springsteen covers. Here are a few videos you can check out:

Compared to Bruce Springsteen, John Mayer, Bruce Cockburn and Dave Matthews, Martyn has 32 CDs and has created his own style and reputation as a mesmerizing live performer. His talent is driven by passion, social awareness and a love for his trade. Rightfully, he has been recognized with various humanitarian awards and plaudits.

A jaw-dropping guitar player with a show-stopping voice, he is often called "The Welsh Springsteen." In 2013, Martyn released a CD of Bruce Springsteen covers, to great public and critical acclaim, with the glowing endorsement of Dave Marsh, the highly regarded American music critic and official Springsteen biographer.

His most recent CD Sanctuary was released in Autumn 2015 to great critical acclaim. The album was produced by Grammy award winner Ben Wisch and it musically pools myriad influences and is lyrically contemplative, honest and big-hearted – attributes that also convey a sense of both the artist and the individual. It’s impossible not to share his optimism for the collection.

Isabelle Alexandra Medina (IAM) was thirteen years old when she took her lifeon September 6, 2014. Those who knew Isabelle describe her as a kind, intelligent, funny, and outgoing girl who radiated happiness and brought laughter to all of those around her.

Established by Isabelle’s family and friends, The IAM Strong Foundation see that a change needs to be made in the way in which mental health is viewed.

A small, community based organization based in Westwood, Massachusetts, The IAM Strong Foundation works to shatter the stigma associated with teen mental health issues, emphasizing the need to treat all mental health issues no differently than physical health issues. They work to bring light to a serious topic not discussed often enough — mental health. The IAM Strong Foundation works to promote acceptance, and ensure that no teenager (or adult) should ever have to experience a tragic death such as the one which took Isabelle.

In 2014, Martyn took the spirit of his music to a more practical footing with the launch of his Let Yourself Trust. This not-for-profit organization aims to make a small difference out of great love and commitment by challenging injustice wherever it’s found, educating via advocacy, campaigning for human rights, and raising issues that have been forgotten or ignored via fundraising initiatives, thus bringing about greater awareness for beautiful people in powerless situations.

Let Yourself Trust focuses on the causes and consequences of injustice and partners with advocates for change, helping to provide a choice and a chance. Indeed, Let Yourself Trust acts as eyes for the hidden, a voice for the unheard.

For the first half of 2017, Martyn and Let Yourself Trust are delighted to announce they will be raising awareness and funds for The IAM Strong Foundation.
