Event description

Description

The Lowell's Boat Shop fishing dory is an ideal platform from which to observe and study the Great Marsh. Over the course of three days, we will take an experiential approach to observing the marsh and adjacent waterways. Rowing through the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, Parker River, and nearby creeks, we will observe the natural wonders of the marsh. Consisting of over 25,000 acres, the marsh contains an amazing diversity of plant and animal life.

The first day we meet we row at Lowell's Boat Shop. We will discuss past and current observations of life in the marsh. The second day, we will meet, row into the marsh, stay out overnight and return the following day. The final day of the program, we will summarize what we found and discovered, so that we can share it with other community members.
