Proximity Marketing and the Physical Web: A Case Study with the Nashville Sounds and BKON Connect
Imagine being able to communicate with consumers the literal moment they come into contact with your product.
As a retailer, think about being able to deliver coupons to customers' phones as they approach your storefront. As a venue, consider the opportunity to convey information about specials, entertainment lineup, or happy hours. As an event or conference, imagine being able to use attendees phones on-site to deliver giveaways and information in conjunction with specific booths and conference rooms.
All of this is possible with the use of beacon technology and the Physical Web.
At this quarter's Marketing Technology Special Interest Group meeting, we'll hear a pertinent and entertaining case study on the use of beacon technology from the Nashville Sounds and their tech partner, BKON Connect. You'll hear from BKON Connect CEO Richard Graves and Sounds Marketing Director Alex Wassel as they show in a live demonstration how their organizations developed a unique fan experience during last year's baseball season. BKON Connect will also be giving away a beacon pilot program to an attendee whose organization is an appropriate fit.

Meet our speakers
Richard Graves is CEO and co-founder of Nashville-based BKON Connect, Inc., a proximity technology company targeting precision inbound marketing. Mr. Graves is an entrepreneur and angel investor, with a background in telecom and technology start-ups. He is a past founder or co-founder of several start-ups including American Telephone Network (ATN) and DTI Networks.
Mr. Graves is a graduate of Vanderbilt University, and resides in Nashville, TN with his wife, Mary Kay, and son, Brian.
Alex Wassel is Marketing Director for the Nashville Sounds. He is responsible for overseeing the club's marketing initiatives, including graphic design, electronic marketing, and social media efforts, as well as co-managing the team's publications and website. He joined the Sounds in January 2013 as Media Relations Manager, was promoted to Creative Services Manager in October 2014, and elevated to his current post in September 2016.
Mr. Wassel attended the University of Tennessee from 2004-2008 and graduated with a BS in Journalism and Electronic Media. He spends his free time with his wife, Alana, and enjoys exploring new music, watching Tennessee sports, and supporting the Belcourt Theatre.
