Marketing for All: Diversity & Inclusion Isn't Nice, It's Necessary
"If your brand were to disappear tomorrow, who would truly miss you?" This thought provoking question from Seth Godin spurs marketers to evaluate who their customers really are and how well they are serving them.
As we approach the second quarter of the 21st century, brands are reassessing their approach to marketing. Not only has technology changed how companies engage with customers, but the makeup of U.S. society has changed. As of 2019, there are more Millennials than Baby Boomers, and they are more diverse in many ways, ranging from race and ethnicity to sexual orientation and gender identity.
But it's not just demographics: young generations have different expectations. They don't just care about what a company sells, but also what it stands for. They react more positively to diverse representations in advertising campaigns. And they vote with their (digital) wallets. Executives are taking note and in many cases realigning their marketing strategies to ensure that their brands don't disappear.
This panel of experts will unpack these issues and make the case that Diversity & Inclusion isn't nice, it's necessary.
