Thomas S. Townes, AIA, FSMPS, CPSM, has 35 years of experience in the design and built industry as an architect and has had a major role in marketing and business development for 25 of those years. Tom maintains a business and marketing philosophy that “Little Things Mean Everything”.
Mr. Townes draws his experienc from his direct involvement with clients and projects where he began his career as a designer, project architect, project manager and design department head. He started his marketing career when he took over as Marketing Director for a 300 + person A/E firm in the northeast.
Tom served as the Fellows Delegate on the SMPS Board of Directors from 2014-2016 and has also served on the SMPS Philidelphia Board where he was the Chapter President in 2005. As Fellow, Tom is currently serving as Chapter Champion to the Virginia Chapter. He is a Certified Professional Services Marketer (CPSM) and has on numerous occasions served as a continuing education credit lecturer addressing the Six Domains of Marketing. He led the effor by the Fellows Committee in having the Domains presentation Certified by the AIA for continuing education credits for Architects. As a speaker, Tom has spoken at numerous SMPS events, locally, regionally, and at National conferences.
