Marisol, a successful Latina copy editor still living in the poverty-stricken Bronx neighborhood she grew up in, narrowly escapes a vicious attack on the subway one night. When she arrives home, Marisol is visited by her guardian angel, who resigns as her protector to join the revolution against a senile God. On her own, Marisol begins a journey of magical realism through a war torn New York City and encounters a host of citizen soldiers and renegade angels fighting to save the universe.
