Marine Strandings Network Forum 2019

We're pleased to invite you to join us for the Marine Strandings Network Forum, kindly hosted once again by Truro College. This event offers a unique opportunity to hear about the work being carried out by the Marine Strandings Network in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, as well as UK-wide by the Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme and by colleagues working in similar fields.

This year we are focusing on work from across the Cornish and UK Strandings Networks with some interesting stranding events and research. We will also be celebrating the astonishing work of Vic Simpson who sadly passed away earlier this year and was a ground breaking veterinary pathologist who was instrumental in developing strandings investigations here in the UK, amongst many other contributions to wildlife pathology findings.

Among the presentations will be:

  • Cetacean strandings in Ireland, Simon Berrow - Irish Whale and Dolphin Group

  • Microplastics in marine mammals stranded around the British coast, Sarah Nelms - University of Exeter

  • The life and death of Septimus White, Rob wells and Sue Sayer - Cornwall Seal Group Research Trust

  • Jellyfish strandings in the UK, Victoria Hobson - University of Exeter

The cost of attending the Forum is £12 per person. Lunch and refreshments are included.
