Event Details

The Marine Mud Run is an event for runners of all ages, genders, and physical abilities. Its primary purpose is to raise funds for Children, veteran Marines in need, and support other community non-profit veterans groups, by sponsoring an annual Marine-style mud run in Aug. Runners pay a fee to run a course with Marine style obstacles, a distance of approximately three miles (five kilometers).  The course traverses various surfaces including dirt roads, fields, ponds and mud trails.  Numerous obstacles are incorporated into the course, with highlights including walls, trenches and mud pits.

Individual runners or teams consisting of four runners start the race. The first individual runner or first four-member team to cross the finish line together will establish the order of finish. The first place runner or team for each category will receive a plaque.

The difficulty of the course requires rough-n-ready attire and is an integral part of the event.  While safety precautions have been taken, the nature of this event recommends that runners wear attire that reduces the possibility of mishap (i.e., long pants, boots, long sleeve shirt, gloves).

Entry Fees:
Post marked on/before July 1: $40.00 each runner / $160 per Team.
Post marked after July 1: $55.00 each runner / $220 per Team.
Students- $35.00* (Children 8 - 18 & College students)
Children under 4-7: Free

*Military, Veterans, Police, Fire, and EMT Discount Code, enter: MilVets2013

Categories: Individual female /  Male, Team all female / all male, Team Mixed (one member must be of opposite gender) Children (13 and over), and Family
- Our Family category was a hit! Families can run together (4yrs and over) and no limit on size. If you sign up your child to run in the family group, they are not eligible to run in the "children's" category.

Children ages 4-7 may run the race for "FREE," in the Family category, but will only run half the course (We say this every year, but the kids are just as hardcore as their parents and bypass the divider and run the entire course anyway).

Finally, Timed-Events.com will be on hand to provide an official time.

Marine Mud Run

Vision:

To develop obstacle course races in Indiana and increase growth and awareness of our mission.
Mission:
The mission of the Marine Mud Run and it's primary purpose is to raise funds for Children, veteran Marines in need, and support other community non-profit veterans groups, by conducting an annual Obstacle Course Race (OCR), to provide hope and build the self-esteem of the children of Michiana, veterans, and the community.
The Marine Mud Run is a 5k run through mud and obstacles, which is operated with volunteers, and with Marines who provide words of encouragement and motivation to help runners make it through to the end. We are a not-for-profit and all proceeds go to our programs.
The Run began in 2004 when First Sergeant Samuel “Sam” Alameda saw a need in the South Bend area for Toys for two specific age groups within the Toys for Tots program that were underrepresented. The run was first hosted at Culver Military Academy, Culver, Indiana in 2004.
In 2004 and 2005 the run attracted 200 runners. In 2006, we moved to South Bend, Indiana and motivated 260 runners to complete the course. By 2007, attendance increased to 370 runners.
In 2007, we saw a greater need in the community, with the number of Marines returning from war, with Post Tramatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and Tramatic Brain Injury (TBI) and decided changed our mission to help more than just the children, but veterans, and the community. It was decided by the board to change our mission to better support those issues to, "it's primary purpose is to raise funds for Children, veteran Marines in need, and support other community non-profit veterans groups, by conducting an annual Obstacle Course Race (OCR), to provide hope and build self-esteem of the children of Michiana, veterans, and the community."
By 2009, the run reported only a small 3.7% in revenue expenditures, leaving 96.7% of all revenues for program execution (holding the run and buying toys).
In 2012, we moved again to Marian HS, where we have found a permeant home. We are grateful to our new partnership, with Marian HS, and look forward to many years together.
In 2016, we added Time-Events.com, as our official timing company.
Come out and get muddy with us or volunteer to provide our friends with a memorable experience.
The Mud Run’s motto is "Semper Fi to the Children."
