Marine Barracks/Marine Corps Security Force Company NWS Concord, CA Reunion
Friday, June 23, 2017 at 6:00 PM - Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 12:00 PM (PDT)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
This serves as a "formal" announcement for the conduct of the first reunion of Marines who served with the Marine Barracks and Marine Corps Security Force Company, Naval Weapons Station Concord CA from 1941 - 1995. The proposed date(s) are: 16-18 June, or 23-25 June 2017. Base of operations will be in the Danville, CA area for hotels and banquet. Leatherneck Mike Feddersen, Marine Barracks 1964-1966, lives in the area and is taking care of much of the logistics and information gathering. He is working to line up access to as much of the station (inland and waterfront) as possible for a day trip and walking tour. General scheme of manuever is: Friday evening arrive and conduct evening mixer/meet and great. Saturday morning, chow, load on transport and tour the station. Saturday evening, a banquet with photos, history, "The Video", etc. Sunday morning have brunch, "fall out" and check out. Conduct travels back to home bases.
What is needed right now is for at least 100 Marines, including spouses/signifcant others, to commit to attend so Mike Fedderson can get us the best dates and rates for this event. Costs will be determined based on the number of participants. More attendees, the lower the overall costs.
Request that you go to the Eventbrite link ASAP and state your intentions so planning can move forward aggressively. Request that you forward this to other Concord Marines via email, social media, whatever for maximum exposure.
In that the station is up for grabs for commercial use and transformation, this may be the last opportunity to see our old duty station much as we recall it.
So, let's get this done and come together for a great event. Clear your calendars and sign up ASAP.
I will be looking for jarheads to serve committees on various parts of this event, as we move the operation along. So dust off your skills and stand by.
