Event description

Description

SF City Impact is incredibly excited to partner with Marin Convenant Church & Anabella's Gifts, Bayside Church and CPC Danville for a day of high-impact volunteerism in the inner-city of San Francisco.

Registration:

Registration check-in begins at 12:30pm and the briefing will start promptly at 1pm. Registration will be located at the Salvation Army: Ray & Joan Kroc Center at 240 Turk Street, San Francisco, CA 94102

You can join us in one of the following areas:

  1. *Meal Prep/Kitchen: The meal prep job is an assembly line formation and there is always a lot of energy in this team. If you are planning on bringing kids, this is a fun place for them to help and there is usually more space for them to roam. About 10 from this group will assist in the Kitchen in food-prep and cooking duties led by our Kitchen staff.
  2. Meal Delivery: These teams are going to hand deliver the food to people in apartment buildings that partner with City Impact. All deliveries are done by walking. Team members need to be at least 18 years old. Those who don't want to be confined to one area love this task. All meals are carried in banana boxes to the assigned buildings. Often times, it might seem as if you're waiting around, however, this is the nature of the job. ALL the Meal Prep teams are doing their best to pump out the meals. So please be patient. This job is vital to getting the job done!
  3. Building Parties: This team will be hosting a party in one of City Impact's Adopted Buildings throughout the Tenderloin. Team members need to be at least 18 years old. The parties will bringing a spirit of friendship and fun to each of the residents within each building. Team members will be serving food to residents, playing bingo and giving away prizes to residents and simply getting to know each other through conversation.
  4. Street Ministry: Join this team for an exciting and adventurous outreach. There is nothing like the raw faith required for street ministry. Learn to start a conversation, listen to someone’s story and minister to someone’s need. It is amazing what happens when you ask a simple question, “How can I pray for you?”
  5. Security: This team will help with crowd control and keeping their assigned outreach site safe for guests. It's nice to have help with keeping our volunteers and residents calm and organized as there is an order to the day. City Impact prides itself in making sure the community is blessed on this day and needs security to make sure this happens smoothly. We need strong, orderly, yet kind volunteers for this job.
  6. Prayer Walk: Join this team if you love interceding for others in prayer! We need a team of people that are willing to walk the perimeter and streets of the Tenderloin (TL) to cover all of the outreaches with prayer. In addition, we will send you to the needy areas in the TL that need specific prayer.
  7. *Tenderloin Scrubdown: The scrubdown team will work in teams with cleaning gear to help sweep and clean neighboring blocks around the TL to brighten up the community.
  8. *Super Saturday Back to School Party: The party team will host a fun and secure outdoor parking-lot party for community families and children to visit and enjoy games, prizes and food.
  9. *Clothing for Kids: This team will provide free clothing to boys and girls who visit the Super Saturday Back to School Party. The clothing are needed items for many families in need and will be a nice gift for the children.
  10. Women's Beauty and Clothing: This team will provide loving beauty treatment to women visiting our City Impact site. Team members will participate in stations for Make-Up, Nails, Hair Styling, Clothing-giveaway (purses) and Chair Massage (shoulder/neck over clothing). Men are needed as well!
  11. Rescue Mission Cafe: Team members will prepare and serve food and beverage to community guests in our Rescue Mission site. Guests will be seated at tables and will get served food. Team members can sit at tables with community guests to hear their stories and to have a nice conversation together.

Note: Outreaches marked with * above are family-friendly.
