About the Marian Anderson String Quartet
Starting as street performers in New York, the Marian Anderson Quartet's bold musicmaking embraces the classical tradition and infuses it with the richness of the African-American experience. The quartet, named for the celebrated contralto who shattered racial barriers, was the first African-American ensemble in history to win a major classical music competition. Their repertoire includes rarely heard classical compositions by Black composers and contemporary arrangements of Negro spirituals.

Donald W. King'93, Fete Vice President, Co-Owner, Fete/Archetype LLC. is a creative director, socio-musicologist, brand strategist, event producer and builder of cultural institutions. A graduate of Brown University, Don has been a driving force in the establishment of the arts, culture, and tourism movement in the Creative Capital. The founder and artistic director behind successful brands such as The Providence Black Repertory Company and Providence Sound Session, a seven day, multi-staged and multi-venue, genre defying music festival that booked regional, national, and international artists and delivered upwards of fifty-thousand people into the city annually. Don has been heralded as a true connector and visionary. (Www.FeteMusic.Com)
