Event description
Blending lyrical, introspective songwriting with a raw rock edge

About this Event

Brooklyn-based singer/songwriter Margaret Glaspy creates a sound that is both intimate and powerful. A native of California, Glaspy relocated to Boston after high school, where she attended the Berklee College of Music. After her scholarship money ran out, she used her student ID to sneak into master classes while honing her songs and working odd jobs. She now resides in New York City where her strong command as a vocalist and bluesy electric guitar skills set her apart from much of the New York D.I.Y. indie scene. She’s a fierce believer in the power of specifics to tell universal truths, to capture emotions we’ve all felt but don’t necessarily hear reflected in pop music. Some truths are uglier than others, but Glaspy never backs down.

Throughout the development of her solo career Glaspy has performed with numerous acts, primarily performing back up vocals. She has toured with artists including modern indie pop voices like Rachael Yamagata, bluegrass legends like Ricky Skaggs and folk icons like Del McCoury, Tim O’Brien and Aoife O’Donovan.
