Description
In an ever-changing world of regulations and emerging contaminant issues, it's critical for environmental professionals to remain aware of these contaminants, their impact on human health, and best practices for addressing them. Perfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs), also known as perfluorochemicals (PFCs) are among the most widespread and persistent manmade chemicals in our environment and have become an emerging concern.
Join MAREP for a discussion on these emerging contaminants, led by Ravi Damera, P.E., BCEE. Mr. Damera will address the regulatory process for these compounds of concern The discussion will focus on the regulations that govern Poly- and Perfluoroalkyl Substances (PFASs) and challenges environmental professionals face in the characterization and remediation of perfluorinated compounds.
Ravi Damera is a senior program manager with AECOM. He has over 25 years of experience in multiple environmental practice areas, with a focus on remediation. Mr. Damera has several publications to his credit and served on American Society of Civil Engineers HTRW technical committees and as a peer a reviewer for technical journals. He also served as Adjunct Faculty in the Environmental Management program at the University of Maryland University College for 10 years.
