In March 2020, a nationwide shutdown began to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus in the United States. We ceased all communal activity, businesses and schools were closed, domestic and foreign travel came to a halt, and humanity, not designed to be alone, was ordered to go into isolation and mask up. COVID-19 became a tsunami of anxiety, death, economic instability, and stress.
The pandemic worsened the already existing challenges to access mental health treatment options for minorities.
The Bridging the Gap Foundation received its non-profit status the day the nation was shut down, March 13, 2020. While the nation was ordered to mask up, the foundation started its mission to unmask the stigmas associated with mental health. A primary barrier to accessing quality treatment is cost. The Foundation is determined to eliminate financial barriers and the annual Mardi Gras Masquerade Gala is our major fundraiser.
Join us for a great time for a great cause and let the good times roll.
