Please join us for a special, Potluck Food Science tech social on Friday, March 17th at 6:30 pm in the Ellen Driscoll Auditorium at Havens. Jan Matsuno is our speaker. Jan has over 25 years of product development experience in the food and beverage industry and is currently the Director of Commercialization Services at the Center for Culinary Development in San Francisco, CA. Previously, Jan held product development positions at Del Monte Foods and Safeway, Inc. At Del Monte, she formulated and commercialized over 50 new products. For Safeway, she directed the development of over 2000 private label products. She also taught Food Science at SJSU. In addition to our speaker, we are asking you to consider sharing some of your own food science experiments! Have you been tinkering with a cookie recipe? Do you have an interesting cooking gadget? Share it! Social time with your tech friends, a pizza dinner, milk, and cookies for only $5! As usual, bring whatever else you’d like to share!

Tech Social is a “roll up your sleeves” event, so bring in your March Tech Bag:

  1. Food experiment or cooking gadget

  2. Laptop or tablet for games

  3. A musical instrument, if you are interested in jamming

  4. A reusable water bottle

6:30-7:00pm: Dinner and catching up!

7:00-7:30pm: A short talk by Ms. Matsuno on food science

7:30-8:30pm: Fun with food and cookie break at 8:00pm


Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

No, this is for all ages. This is not a drop-off event - please have an adult loosely associated with any attendee under the age of 13..

What is the meal going to be?

Dinner will be pizza from Lanesplitter, with water and milk also provided. If you want to bring your own water bottle, so much the better. There will be a cookie break during the self-organizing pod session.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

As long as you pre-register before 3p the day of the event, there is no need. If you register later, please consider printing your ticket or having a copy on your phone..

What is the refund policy?

We understand that plans change, particularly with families! However, the majority of our costs are sunk immediately (facility and equipment rental), so while we are happy to refund your fee up to 24 hrs in advance of the event, please consider making it a donation instead.
