Event description
When we awaken to the beauty, abundance, and blessings all around us, our hearts open and we recognize life as a gift.

About this Event

We hope you will join us for our March Gathering: If the Only Prayer You Say Is Thank You...

We welcome you to journey with us as we explore the theme of gratitude. "If the only prayer you ever say in your life is thank you, it will be enough," wrote 13th c. theologian, philosopher, and mystic Meister Eckhart. Yet when loss, violence, and anger seem to seep into every news bite, it can be difficult to remember if we even have an intention of gratitude. Yes, we do face profound loss and grief, and we also are surrounded by abundant moments worthy of acknowledgement and gratitude, moments that can soften our hearts and strenghten our souls.

As usual, our gathering will follow a flow of introductions to each other and the theme followed by a half-hour silent walk in nature. We will have the opportunity to share what we have seen and felt when we return to the group, most likely around the fire circle depending on the weather. As is our practice, we will close with a brief time of conversation, light snacks, and fellowship.

Bring your drum if you like, and we'll take a little time to let the reverberations express our remembered joy.

Wondering what to bring? First of all, dress for the weather; unless the weather is very challenging, we will be walking and talking outside. Benches are available around the fire pit, but you may bring a camp chair if you prefer. You may want to bring a blanket, reusable water bottle, and perhaps your journal and snacks to share. We will be accepting donations to cover the cost of meeting at Shepherd's Spring so please bring cash if you wish to contribute.

As you arrive, look for Church of the Wild signs that will direct you. Our gathering will be very near the parking area by the retreat center Please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early so that you can park, check in and get settled; we will begin on time. If despite best laid plans you are late, please do come and join the circle; one of our greeters will discretely catch you up with what's happening.

Church of the Wild ~ Two Rivers is an emerging community, meeting in the midst of and drawing from the beauty of the living earth. Our intent is to deepen our connection to the Holy by being more fully present, open and available in each moment. We learn from the earth and trees, the waters and sky, and from all living beings, human and non-human.

You are welcome! We welcome anyone who seeks to deepen their spirituality through time in nature. Whatever your religious tradition, or if you have none, Christian or otherwise, no matter your gender identity or sexual orientation, you are welcome here. Children are welcome too; email us ahead of time so that we can offer suggestions to make this time more meaningful and relevant for them. Dogs are not permitted at this location.
