About The Practitioners

Anat Shenker-Osario is a communications expert, language researcher and author of the acclaimed book “Don’t Buy It: The Trouble with Talking Nonsense About the Economy.”  Trained in cognition and linguistics, Anat examines why certain messages resonate where others falter. Past and present clients that have relied on her research to diagnose what’s not working in their messaging and to provide fresh new approaches include the Ford Foundation, America’s Voice, Opportunity Agenda, Ms Foundation, We Belong Together, the Roosevelt Institute, Congressional Progressive Caucus, Caring Across Generations and CoreAlign, to name a few.

Mark Gomez oversees economic research and policy development for the United Service Workers West SEIU, which represents 40,000 contracted property service workers in California. He is now leading the union’s strategic thinking on how Californians can tackle extreme inequality and drive enduring prosperity.Mark has also headed up Strategic Communications at the Latino civic engagement non-profit SOL California. At SOL he developed a participatory workshop to craft a new progressive “narrative” through people’s experience of coming to the Golden State from around the world and across the country.

About The Facilitator

Facilitator and trainer Alison Roh Park has worked as a communications strategist for social justice organizations operating on a local to international scale, including on groundbreaking litigation on NYPD stops-and-frisks and racial discrimination in the FDNY, and torture under the Bush administration. Alison has appeared on Univision and Telemundo and has been quoted in national and international media on issues of international human rights, gender justice, and institutional racism.

Through hands on learning with tips and tools, case studies, question and answer periods with experts, our webinars will help you build specific skills and integrate effective communications practices into your work.
